They discuss their early lives, education, and careers, including their struggles and achievements. Nancy shares her journey from being a prematurely born child with visual impairment to becoming a theater major and working with the Episcopal Service Corps. Billy recounts his experiences with discrimination, his passion for amateur radio and computer technology, and his role as a county’s IT director. The couple also discusses their financial struggles early in their marriage. The episode ends with a story about the importance of persistence. This is a first part of a two part episode. In the next episode we learn more about where the couple is currently.
