Flight for Sight’s $10,000 Travel Grant Application announcement!

 

Description:

Flight for Sight is excited to announce the launch of the 2024 $10,0000 Flight for Sight Travel Grant Application. Three grants of $10,000 each will be awarded to individuals or teams with at least one person who is blind or has low vision. Their mission is to explore the world, engage with others, and educate people about blindness and/or low vision. This round of grantmaking will be for travel between April 1 and October 31, 2024.

The first stage of the application consists of a few questions about their idea via video or written submission. Select applications will be chosen for semifinal and final rounds. Details will be forthcoming.

another year of the FREE Children’s Braille Book Club!

Apply or share now — applications will close on December 22nd!
Free Children’s Braille Book Club membership applications are open again!
Everyone — even current Book Club subscribers — must fill out an application form for the 2024 free membership! Your current free membership will expire after the December 2023 book is mailed.
Thanks to several generous donations and a matching program from the NewCo Foundation, the third year of the Free Book Club will have 325 free memberships available to qualified families! The goal is to make all subscriptions free over the course of five years.

The next phase of free Book Club memberships will start with the January 2024 book, and ends with the December 2024 book. As next December approaches, you’ll have the opportunity to apply for another free year (January 2025 through December 2025).
Eligibility:
• The CBBC-Free Program is available to blind children ages birth to 10 years old* or parents/legal guardians who are blind and have children ages birth to 10 years old*.
• Limit one Book Club membership per eligible child or household.
• The free program is only open to US residents.
• Enrollment is limited and will be based on eligibility/need criteria and on a first-come/first-served basis.
*We will accept applications for children who are older than 10 years old that have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) with reading levels lower than 10 years of age.

ACB Scholarship Application Now Live

Description

The American Council of the Blind is pleased to announce the continuation of our scholarship program which was first established in 1982. This program aims to offer financial support to entering freshman, undergraduate and graduate students, as well as students attending technical college. Scholarships will range from $2,000 to $7,500 and can be used to assist with costs associated with post-secondary education financial needs such as tuition, fees, room and board, and other additional costs associated with assistive technology.
To be eligible for this scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:
• Applicants must be legally blind
• Be a full-time student OR a part-time student who works at least 32 hours per week
• Be involved in their school and local community
• Must be accepted to a post-secondary institution in the United States
• A 3.0 GPA is expected to qualify for most scholarships
Applications for the 2024-2025 school year can be submitted online now through Wednesday, February 14, 2024 11:59 p.m. (CST).
