My husband will tell you the wool is surprisingly cool. He has been wearing wool socks for a few years now, saving his old store bought socks for summer, as he has ran low on those, he’s been wearing the wool more and more and has been happily surprised with how it helps regulate his temp.
Another benefit to the smart thermostats is you can adjust it a couple degrees when you leave the home, and set it back down when your on your way home so you can be cooled when you arrive.
Something else to think about that I don’t think was mentioned is think about landscaping, if you can add anything to the outside of your property. More shade can help keep things cool during parts of the day, and shield you from some unfavorable weather as well, but they may require their own maintenance.
One more thing for energy savings is plan to be out using others energy when possible. Look for activities that will get you out during the day so you aren’t running your energy as much.
