About the Study
Study Title
Designing for Blind and Low Vision Users
Conducted by
University of Massachusetts Amherst
This study explores how blind and low vision individuals can help shape the future of assistive technology using a user-centered design process. The research team hopes to learn how participants might rethink or design tools that better serve their needs.
What Participation Involves
Participants will begin with a one-on-one interview after reviewing and agreeing to a consent form. During this semi-structured interview, participants will be asked about their thoughts on current assistive tech and may be invited to clarify their responses.
If they choose to continue, participants will take part in a four-week hands-off study that involves completing tasks and giving feedback. A box of materials will be mailed to participants for use during the study.
At the end, participants will complete a final interview and a brief survey with demographic information.
Compensation
Participants will be compensated as follows:
- Initial interview: $20
- First two weeks:
- Task 1: $15
- Task 2: $20
- Task 3: $25
- Task 4: $30
