Filing a tax return can feel daunting, and you may wonder if you need to file a return. Even people with very low incomes can sometimes get a tax refund by filing a tax return, even if it’s not required. If, however, you’re earning more than the standard deduction, then you must file a return. You can get in trouble with the IRS for failing to file a return if their records show that you owed taxes.
