We’re investigating an important issue that could be affecting members of the blind and low vision community, and we need your help.
Some blind car owners have reported being denied car insurance solely because they do not have a driver’s license, even when someone else drives the car for them.
We’ve recently spoken with an individual in Maryland who faced this exact situation and are looking to learn whether others have experienced similar challenges.
What We’re Asking
If you:
- Own a car
- Have someone else drive it for you
- Have had any difficulty obtaining car insurance, especially related to not having a license or your disability
We’d love to hear your story.
Why This Matters
Access to car ownership and insurance shouldn’t be limited by disability. Whether it’s for work, family, or independence, many blind individuals rely on trusted drivers to use their own vehicles. Being denied insurance on that basis may be unfair and could raise serious concerns about accessibility and discrimination.
