IRS Expands Accessible Tax Resources

IRS Expands Accessible Tax Resources Through Alternative Media Center

The IRS is committed to making tax information accessible to all. Through the Alternative Media Center (AMC), taxpayers who use assistive technology can now access hundreds of IRS forms and publications in alternative formats, ensuring that everyone can get the information they need to meet their tax responsibilities.

What Formats Are Available

The AMC offers a wide range of accessible products, including:

  • Text-only files
  • Braille ready files
  • Browser-friendly HTML
  • Accessible PDFs
  • Large print PDFs

Many of these products are also available in Spanish, and the IRS is working to expand access in more languages.

How to Access Tax Forms and Publications

To view or download accessible tax documents, visit the Accessible Forms and Publications page on IRS.gov.

To request Braille or large print paper copies, call 800-829-3676.

How to Request IRS Notices in Accessible Formats

If you want to receive your IRS notices (such as those about taxes owed or penalties) in an alternative format like Braille, large print, audio, or electronic, you can:

  • Select your preference in your IRS Individual Online Account
  • Complete and submit Form 9000 with your tax return or by mail
  • Call 800-829-1040 to request your preferred format

Once the IRS processes your Form 9000, future notices will arrive in the format you chose.

Requesting Notices in Your Preferred Language

To request IRS notices in your preferred language, file Schedule LEP with your Form 1040.
The AMC currently provides all accessible formats in Spanish, and large print versions are available in multiple languages.

Questions? Call the Accessibility Helpline

For questions about alternative media formats or accessibility services, call the IRS Accessibility Helpline at 833-690-0598.

Note: The helpline cannot access individual taxpayer accounts. For account-related questions, visit the Let Us Help You page on IRS.gov.

By offering tax forms and notices in accessible formats, the IRS is making it easier for people with disabilities to stay informed and file with confidence.
