Are you looking to start a job search but don’t know where to start? Are you feeling overwhelmed by the process and unsure how to present yourself to potential employers? If so, you’re not alone. Many people struggle with job searching and find it to be a daunting task. Fortunately, our members-only group chat is here to help.

This week, we’re continuing our conversation about job searching. Last week we began discussing topics such as resume writing, cover letters, and job search strategies. This week we’ll be addressing some of the most challenging parts of the job search for people with disabilities, specifically blindness.

Interviewing

Preparing for an interview can be nerve-wracking, but we’ll provide guidance on how to research the company, anticipate common interview questions, and present yourself in the best light. We’ll also discuss how to navigate the interview process as a person with a disability and how to advocate for your needs.

Negotiating Your Salary

Once you receive a job offer, it’s time to negotiate your salary. We’ll discuss how to research salary ranges for your desired position and how to effectively communicate your value to the employer.

Disclosing Your Disability

Finally, we’ll address the issue of when and how to disclose your disability to potential employers. We’ll provide guidance on how to navigate this conversation and what legal protections you have as a person with a disability.
